All throughout history, ground fighting has been an important part of many martial arts systems, but it has gradually became a lost art, or has been isolated in specialized ground fighting systems. In recent decades ground fighting has gained a lot of popularity – especially the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – because of the first wins by Royce Gracie during the first few UFC tournaments and the victories of his brother Rickson Gracie in Japan during the first Pride tournaments. Sifu Sifu Sergio has studied the art of Judo since he was 6 years old. In his youth, Iadarola was the winner of several Judo tournaments in the Netherlands and has studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu intensively under several Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts and Grandmasters.

As an avid follower of martial arts history, especially the Chinese and Japanese martial arts, he also studied the forefather of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – Kosen Judo – which was founded by Jigoro Kano next to the Kodokan Judo. Both originated from the Fusen Ryu, one of the original Jiu Jitsu styles of Japan.
